New bag project

Well... I have taken the plunge! I am remaking my favorite travel/ cosmetic bag! (yikes!) I received this bag... oh probably over 7 years ago (maybe even 8) and have loved it. It goes everywhere with me! To Ukraine to camping to short weekend trips to see my family. It has the perfect amount of pockets and I love that it folds out. I tried looking for another to replace it but found nothing that even compares. So that is when I got thinking...

I have bought the lining fabric already and the outside fabric is on its way from purlsoho.com (a fantastic fabric online store).
The Bag
The Fab out side oilcloth (it has birds on it and it is purple! It does not get any better than this!)The wonderful Amy Butler trumpet flower laminated cloth that I will use for the lining and two out side pockets.

Soooo... needless to say I am really excited to start this project. A bit nervous since I have never sewn oilcloth... but I am using the old bag (which I have torn apart) as the pattern. I can hardly wait til it is done! My goal is to get it done before we head up to IN to see our families at Christmas.

Summer!

My family and I took a trip to Michigan for a mini vacation. It was so nice to get a break from the southern heat. Plus the sights were wonderful! Here are a few snapshots from out adventure!

Gorgeous beetle on the beach.

My estate sale finds!

I stopped at a fab estate sale yesterday after work and did not have enough spending money... so I went back today with a pocketbook of spending money. (Still not much but enough to get me these treasures!) I really wanted to get some fabric but they did not have it out. I was bummed but I think I may have gotten enough. :) I am going to put some really great picture in the oval frame since the flowers in it are really deteriorated. There was soooo much I wanted and had to pace myself. *sigh* Anyway... here are my new treasures! (Minus a fab turqiosy green dress that needs major altering to fit moi and a great ivory floral and dotted table cloth).

Details of the rose necklace... so pretty. I thought I might take it apart to make something else but love it just as it is!

I just loved this little doe and can hardly wait to wear her!

Fog

So I thought I better go ahead and just upload the photos of the fog in out neighborhood now... because I am the ultimate procrastinator. I just love the way fog looks and have not been able to really photograph it too well. Until now! I started playing around with the setting on our little cannon powershot and voila! I got some pictures of the fog! Now I just need a foggy day to go to the cemetery. I really like the way old tombstone look in the fog.

New etsy item!

I am so excited about the new item I listed in my etsy shop! I knitted this neckwarmer up over a year ago and wear it soooo much. And get so many requests and compliments. It really is a unique fashion statement. Click here to view the details: neckwarmer.

Anyway, Happy New Year (belated). It has been a while since I have written and I am making it a new years resolution to write more often... really. I have some photos that I want to share of our little neighborhood in the fog and the likes. Hopefully I will get those up this weekend.
